Defense Group Inc. (DGI) performs work in the national interest, advancing public safety and national security through innovative research, analysis and applied technology. The DGI enterprise conducts research and analysis in tough defense and intelligence problem areas, provides high-level systems engineering services to selected national and homeland security organizations and produces both hardware software products for both government and commercial consumers.
The National Security Programs Group (NSPG) is focused on research and systems engineering services as well as the creation of intellectual property both under direct government funding and Company IR&D. Those technologies with government marketplace potential are transferred to the CoBRA® Response Solutions (CRS) organization for product development, marketing and sales. Those technologies with commercial potential are candidates for spin-out as subsidiaries or separate companies. This concept is illustrated below.

The NSPG currently provides scientific and engineering support to two major components of the Department of Homeland Security and conducts ground breaking research supporting the U.S. (or national) intelligence enterprise…particularly its emerging juxtaposition with the law enforcement community…and conducts a range of research related to countering weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) for several defense agencies. DGI hardware and software products produced by CRS assist first responders and homeland defense forces in responding to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats to our nation. Our customers include the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Energy and Justice, as well as state and local authorities. Several variants of advanced biosensors developed under DGI IR&D and aimed at the healthcare and bioterrorism commercial markets have also been transitioned to a separate company for development and sales over the next few years under both DGI and private investments.
DGI maintains several offices across the country, supporting our multidisciplinary staff that includes nationally recognized subject-matter-expertise in nuclear, chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction, intelligence analysis, and project management. Key DGI managers and staff members serve in advisory roles at the highest levels within the Cabinet and the Congress. Our outstanding Board of Directors, with extensive background in all aspects of government and corporate management, provide visionary guidance and oversight to DGI's activities.
