George Beebe is Deputy Director, Development, and oversees CIRA’s research and analysis programs on Russia/Eurasia, South Asia, and the Middle East. During more than two decades of government service, Mr. Beebe served as director of CIA’s Russian analysis and director of analysis at CIA’s open-source analytic group. From 2002-2004, he served as Special Advisor to the Vice President for Russia/Eurasia and Intelligence Programs. As a Foreign Service Officer, he had tours at US Embassy Moscow and on the US Delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, where he was the delegation’s point-man on conflicts in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Moldova and helped to negotiate the Adapted Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe. Mr. Beebe holds a B.A. in Political Science from Principia College and an M.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. He speaks Russian and German.
