Update CoBRA® 4.0 Software ERG Tool

CoBRA® 4.0 Hotfix 26 April 2006

Corrects an error in the isolation distance data in the CoBRA® ERG tool. The two columns labeled "First ISOLATE in all Directions” as subheadings under “SMALL SPILLS” and “LARGE SPILLS” are incorrect and should not be relied upon. In most cases, the numerical values presented are TOO SMALL, corresponding to distances in METERS, not FEET (as the columns are labeled).

The problem is resolved by replacing the ERG database (erg2000.mdb) in your CoBRA® installation. In a default installation, this file is in the directory C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DGI\CoBRA\4\Tools\ERG.

Note: The updated database is 2.5MB in size. If downloading a file of this size is a problem for any reason, please contact CoBRA® Technical Support, 877.233.5789 (toll free) or email cobrasupport@defensegp.com, and we will mail you a CD.

To download and install the updated database, follow these instructions:
  1. Click here to download zip file.
  2. Unzip files.
  3. On your computer, open up Windows Explorer and navigate to the directory into which the two files were downloaded.
  4. Run (double left-click, or right-click and select “Open”) the utility “ERG 2004 CoBRA 4.0.”

You can verify that the new database is loaded as follows:

  • Start CoBRA®.
  • Select the ERG tool.
  • Within the ERG tool, select Isolation Tables (last button on the right of the row at the top of the ERG tab).
  • The first entry for the top line for ID #1005 should be 100ft (this is the distance to first isolate in all directions for a small spill). The erroneous version would show 30ft.
