Assessing the potential vulnerability of critical buildings, networks, infrastructure and systems is a crucial task in an era where virtually any element of business, government or society can be threatened. Technical experts from DGI support the Defense Science Board and Congressionally-established commissions to assess risks in various areas. DGI also provides key members for Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) teams that conduct Balanced Survivability Assessments (BSA) of key military and civilian facilities worldwide. BSAs identify potential mission vulnerabilities for a facility or system from a range of potential threats that include natural disaster, accident, fire, terrorist activities or other forms of attack. DGI also conducts similar assessments of key commercial facilities for customers who are concerned about how the operation of their business might be compromised by an accident or malicious act.
